Default Noise when cluth is out

I have seen this listed on this forum for other models, expecially the F2. But it seems as though my bike is going through the same thing. It is an 04 600rr and it may be on the original clutch cable.

Essentially the bike seems to shift fine for now. I am worried that it may get worse however. This guy describes it well:
"I have a strange noise when my bike is in neutral, but it only happens when I don't have the clutch pulled in. With the lever out it sounds like a grinding, vibrating kind of noise. This question was posted by someone in the 929 forum, but there were 2 replies: normal noise and serious problem. Has anyone else had this problem before with an F2)" I obviously care much more about the noise on a 600rr.

It is only with the clutch lever out and, as far as I can tell, in neutral. I am going to replace the clutch cable first, but if anyone has ideas please let me know.

Thank you in advance!

my f4i did it too. might need the cable replaced but im pretty sure that its fine. it has something to do with how your clutch plates sit against stuff and when its in neutral it just makes a wierd noise.

if you couldnt tell i really have no idea, but as far as i know its not a big deal

My 06 does the same thing when the clutch is out but it only started after I put new oil in. I know I have the right oil because the guy at the shop put the wrong typein it and i had to drain it and put 10w 40. I only have 8,000 miles on the bike.

Normal. Lots of bikes - probably the majority - do it. Go listen to a Ducati dry clutch sometime if you want to hear obnoxious - its the same thing to a much lesser degree on wet clutch bikes.

I've noticed that mine makes a "different" sound when the clutch is all the way out versus engaged. Not really a rattling, but just "noisier" I guess. My 06 did it, my new 07 does it, Hamsters 07 and Tony's 08 does it, so I'm thinking it's normal.

the jury is in.

they judge the noise is normal. all is well its prob just contact of the clutch plates and vibrations of the engine or something. no biggy just go ride

Normal noise from Day 1. No worries.
