Talking Need Help On Finding The Right Exhaust For New Bike

Hi guys. I'm new to the CBR scene having bought my first one a couple weeks ago. Been looking around trying to determine what exhaust to put on my bike that will enhance power and sound and NOT totally empty my wallet. I'ves seen a bunch from full systems to slip ons, and some I am less than impressed with cause they sorta look like a turd coming out the tail(no offense to those that may have these exhausts). Any suggestions?

I am totally in support of perhaps making a mod to my stock exhaust so I can at least make it sound somewhat better and louder. Thanks!

You'll get a thousand and one opinions on this.

I will say Yoshi exhausts. and I will be right, and everyone else will be wrong.

But you really can't go wrong with any of the reputable brands. Full exhaust systems will get you some power gains but don't sound like they're worth it for what you're looking for.

Go with a slip-on style. Yoshi is my fav for looks / sound. 2-Bros a lot of people like (i'm not one of them). Akrapovic, Leo Vance etc.

It is almost impossible to give you an answer because it is all personal preference when it comes to sound and looks. You need to search this forum, 600RR.net as well as other forums and manufactures websites to see what style you like the best. I was searching the picture thread on 600RR.net when I saw an akrapovic and decided that was the exhaust that I am going to get because it sits flush with the tail fairing where the others like two brothers, Yoshi, Jardine and Leo stick out past it and that looks bad IMO. Some people don't mind it and others actually might like it. The only problem with the Akra is the heavy price tag at almost $700. As for the sounds aspect the best thing to go to a bike night and see if you can find someone with all these different exhaust and listen to them in person. Sure you can you tube them but you won't get the full effect. I am sure they all sound pretty good though. Performance wise they are all going to be about equal.

Thanks Nate and R Dub. I will go over and check out the websites you gave me and see what I can come up with. Found some friends I might go ride with tonite with some groups and might check out some of thier sounds too. Definetly gunna go check out the Akrapovic and Yoshi right now.

You can change the sound with an aftermarket exhaust, but other than weight-loss you won't see any performance gains without re-jetting/adjusting the carberation/fuel-injection after mounting it. Something to keep in mind when all the hype starts to make your eyes cross and your palms start sweating. lol
