No need to take off the tank. There is a **** on the left side of the bike. With the bike running, turn the **** whichever direction makes the rpms come down.

ya with my 03 it had that little "****" on the left side as well.. my new 07 model doesnt seem to have that. when i took it in to get my first oil change i mentioned turning down the idle and the mechanic that worked on it said he would have had to take off the gas tank to get to it, and that for the sake of 200rpms he didnt want to go through all that hassle.????

You cannot adjust it. The idle is computer controlled with an Idle Air Controller like an automobile.

when i bought my bike the guy had it set at 2000 rpms, and i turned it down to 1200, 2000 was way to high, he didn't know much about bikes though.
