Idle adjustment
I just bought my first bike and it is a 95 cbr F3 only runs with the choke on I need to turn the idle up but cant find the idle adjustment screw can someone tell me where it is located and what is next to your help would be greatly appreciated.
You should have a little **** located on the left side of the bike behind and just below the fuel valve. You'll see it in the opening of the side fairing. If it isn't in the hanger, it might be dangling around somewhere near the fuel pump. If you still can't find it, it just might not be there. Like Knight was saying, it's located just under where the cables attach to the carbs which is between carb 2 and 3. The idle adustment actually attaches to carb 3. You'll have to remove the entire air box (even the part attached to the carbs)to remotely catch a glimpse of it.
Thanks for your help, I see the hanger where it is suppose to be but its not their . What do I do now, do I have to remove the air box to get to the middle of the 2nd and 3rd carb. so I can adjust the idle?
Well, if you don't see the ****, then there is a good chance there won't be anything to adjust. You may have to buy a new(used) one. But it will be easier to determine if it is missing by removing the airbox.
It sounds like it's not there. Take up on uglyangelracing's advice before tearing into it. If it's not there, than you're going to have to buy one like woo545 said. Then comes the fun part... installing it. Like I said before, you'll have to remove all of the air box. You'll most likely have to pull the carbs off to get the pig tail screwed in. Theseat for the idle adjustment sits on carb 3 just off a screw that secures the float bowl.
You don't have to remove the airbox to install the screw, but the left fairings definitely would need to come off if you don't. Even then it's difficult to the right angle since you can't see what you are doing.
good luck installing it. my friend was messing with that **** once (not sure how he found it) and wondering what it does. he uninstalled it (the easy part). by the time i reinstalled it i wanted to kick his ***.
My 95 900RR has the same carb idle adjuster set up as your F3. Make sure you install the spring onto the end of the adjuster that screws into the carburetor. The spring simply applies pressure so the idle adjuster won't vibrate loose, thereby changing your idle. The microfiche drawing in the link here shows on Carb #3 the hose and threaded end that screws into the carb to adjust the idle.. gives you an idea of what exactly your missing on your bike.
