Default How To Get Odometer To Match Engine Miles?

My roommate has a 2005 cbr 600rr. His digital display unit is always screwing up, and the price for a new one through a dealership is just stupid. But anyways we found a used one with 6,000 miles on it for 150. Ofcourse his bike does not have 6,000 miles on it, so is there anyways to roll back the odometer to match the engine miles? Or would he have to take it into a dealer and buy a new one to get the miles matched? Thanks for any information!

i know from when my pops bought a new cluster for his Harley through the dealer he had to write down his mileage and then get it matched with what he wrote through the dealer. im not sure or have herd of any place that messes with clusters to match miles.

You can get a Speedo Healer. It will give you accurate MPH as well as odometer miles, some also store top speed.

As far as rolling back your odometer, I'm pretty sure thats a felony. With the guage being digital I have no clue how you'd roll it back anyway.

EDIT: Speedo Healer will not reduce your current miles. Once installed the miles you put on will be accurate.

He was just telling me that when hes riding the whole display will just reset and freak when hes riding it sometimes, along with various other things too. He said he took it to the dealer and they said it was the whole display and unless he could take it apart and fix electrical connections himself it'd be $500 for the part and like $200 to put it in.

So would that Speedo Healer automatically sync up the displayed odometer to the actual engine miles? Haha I realize it is a felony to turn back odometers and we are def trying to not break the law. Its just the used display is only 150 with 6000 miles on it, and his bike only has 1500 miles on it. So hes just worried about going to try and sell it later on and not being able to get as much money because it reads an extra 4500 miles.

The speedo healer is pretty much plug and play.

I'm not sure if the used cluster will display the 6k it has on it or the 1500 once pluged into his bike.

Im sure there is someway to fix the displayed milage, legally. Just not sure how.

Lol yea you def cant just roll back miles on the odometer legally. I also wouldnt pay 700 dollars to put a new one in. That is outrageous, So what exactly is the odometer doing? Is it not keep track of any miles? just some? to many miles?

Default Odometer

Send an e-mail to Scott at Blue Gauges and explain the situation. I have my 03 CBR geared pretty heavy - 2 down and three up. After several years I had accumulated a lot of mileage resulting from the gearing. I shipped my gauges to Scott and he calculated the change required on the odometer and made the change.. I had to sign a letter confirming why the change was required.
