Odometer jumped 6k miles?! WTF?
Hopefully, I'll be able to fix this soon.
I repaired my bike and replaced some parts (right clip on, rear brake bracket, master cylinder) and decided to take it out for a quick spin. I put the key in the ignition and turned it on. I read the odometer: 19k miles. Prior to the replacement of parts it was at 13k miles. The odometer jumped 6k miles?! What happened???
Also the speedometer reading is wrong. I was riding around my block and I could have sworn I was going 30 or so, yet it read 60mph.
Are these wiring problems? Perhaps they're just loose or will I need to replace them?
If it helps, my bike is an 02 f4i.
Thanks in advance...

Whoa. Never heard that before. Check the wiring and stuff. Try disconnecting the battery for a while, and see if it resets the system. Other than that, I have no idea.
I would think if your speedo is off to it is just wiring problems....make sure everything is connected to the right spot, and that all the connections are tight and secure.
Did you remove any of the wiring why you were doing any of that? or you might have knocked a wire loose.
Disconnecting the battery might work if it will reset.

check the simple stuff first..... did it get switched to KMH? that would explain everything

I'm thinking either im4u2nv81 stole my bike and put 6k on it
or it converted to kmh...I didn't know it could do that...how weird
I'll check for loose wires and d/c the battery...
I really appreciate the help...I'll update

so it would be right around 20k miles....you must have hit something to swicth it over.
Read your owners manual or do a search for how to select between US (mph) and Metric(km/h) readouts. My guess isDon't go disconnecting **** until you know what the problem is. It probably says on the readout "km/h" next to your speed and "km" next to the odometer. It should be "mph" and "mi", respectively. If you go yanking wires and disconnecting stuff without knowing what you're looking for, you're gonna create a new problem for yourself.
