Default Gear Shifter

Yo guys im just after a bit of help. I went to ride my CBR for the first time today, and i got on it only for the engine to stall once i knocked it down into first gear. It was because i had the side stand down,it cut the engine out. So i went to put it back into neutral to start it up again, and i couldnt even get my foot underneath the gear shifter cos of my new daytona boots! I couldnt get my foot down low enough because of the protection in my boots! Unbelievable! I was so gutted. But i was just wondering can you move the gear shifter up a bit? Or the footpegs down a bit? I have a manual but it mentions nothing about the moving of gear lever or footpegs. Any ideas?..............how stupid.......
