Default engine surge?

my engine hiccups when i engine break VERY slowly at 6.5k rpm. and by very slowly i mean it's as light on the throttle as i can be without letting off of it. or if i maintain that same throttle at 6.5 it only bounces about .2k up and down and gives little lurches but it is still really **f bomb**(haven't actually read the rules yet )annoying and I am worried whatever is causing it might lead to more problems and lots of $$$ down the road.

anyone have any ideas of a diagnosis? or have heard of something similar happening

thanks

Fuel injected CBR's have 2 fuel injector's per cylinder...below a certain RPM you run on a single injector, but once you hit a point, both injectors kick in. This is called dual stage fuel injection, and a problem with this would probably cause the problem you are describing...on the 05 the injector kicks @ 5500 RPMs though. What year is your bike?

That could also be caused by an aftermarket exhaust. Do you have a slip on? if so that sometimes causes a studdr or hiccup, and you will need to have it jetted to fix that problem. If you dont have an after market exhaust then could be fuel injectors or plugs....hope that helps

I think you mean he needs a power commander, not jetted. Agreed that the lack of a PC with a full system COULD cause problems, a slip-on alone shouldn't cause any. We need more details here Jreed...

sorry for not replying to my own topic for so long, was out all weekend.

It's an 07, I was also thinking it might be exhaust related. I only have the stock exhaust on there but when i went down last month it bent the tail WAY up along with the exhaust and I just had them bend it back and 'repair' it.

Thanks for all the info

slip- ons can do something, but not much hiccup wise.

my f4i used to hiccup rom my 2 bros.. not a big deal but it was kinda annoying during engine breaking

Oh, ok, your the dude who posted the "remove a headlight" thread. Did you ever get the problem referred to in this thread figured out?
