Default Difficulty Turning Key

Hello, I've got a 2005 cbr600rr and over the last few days the ignition key has become hard to turn without playing about pushing and turning it every way I can until it pops into place, thenI can turn it smoothly but if I remove the key it's the same again.

I thought about putting some kind of lubricant in it but using the search before I posted this the answers to people with a similar problem were a bit contradicting as to what's ok to put in and whats not.

Any help would be appreciated as I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to maintenance stuff and don't want to mess anything up.

You could squirt it with some WD40, but try wiggling the handle bars some as you turn the key. That usually helps mine if it doesn't want to turn.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll give it a spray of wd40 tomorrow and see if it helps.
