Electrical difficulty
So the bike stranded me this morning, sucks, its such a nice day.
It ran fine for about 15 miles, I stoped at a gas station and when I turned the key the lights lit up like always, press the starter, it turns over once and all the lights die. Wont turn over agian.
Push started it, and it started, idles fine but all the lights are really weak, the tach jumps all over the place, the engine sputters and backfires when I try to rev up, and the speedo goes up with the tach not with road speed.
I'm thinking its the voltage rectifier thing that always goes?

check to make sure your battery cables are tightly screwed on, if they are then check your battery with a voltmeter and make sure you got a good battery if it's around 12.5 volts than your battery is good, it all that checks out than it might be a rectifer
so where is a good place to buy the voltage regulator online?
did a search and cant find it
I wish I had another bike for times like these
also is a rectifier and regulator the same thing?

Make sure you get the one with integrated cooling fins. My stock VR did not have them (97F3).

Take the battery off the bike and charge it to full then leave if off the bike for a day or two. Check the batterys voltage after this period has elapsed, if the battery reads 12-13.8 volts sounds you need a new rectifier/regulator if the battery has lost the charge (lower than 12v) change the battery as it is faulty!
If you have an alarm fitted, in most cases its a discharged battery. Charge the batterry and try again.
i had the same fault last year i need a new battery and regulator/rectifier.
thanks
