City Riding?
hey guys I recently bought the TWO magazine issue with the king of sport bikes comparison and they ranked the 6RR very very low in the city riding section. Now I thought about this and was wondering if this is because of the location of the test and the really narrow tight streets or Britain. anyway I know all you guys most likely love your bikes but let's get some honest responses, how do you feel your CBR acts on city streets; engine, suspension, brakes, turning, comfort?
I can’t imagine the standards the articles you read, but I love my 600RR. My only issue would be my hand positioning. The palms of my hands get killed with any distance riding. After about 30 minutes I adjust to it. The ride is smooth, quick response and handles great in slow tight turns. I am active duty military and as a requirement, have to attend rider safety courses prior to obtaining decals to ride on base. The really slow tight “box†that you make a figure 8 in is a piece of cake on the CBR’s. Both Gixxer’s and the Ninja Grand never made it through the box. They kept tipping over. There were two CBR’s and we both completed the course with little effort.
It's probably b/c of the riding position of the RR. You are hunched over pretty far, and unless you maintain good riding posture, end up putting a lot of pressure on your wrists. When moving at a faster pace, the wind blast allows you to relax a little more.
It could be because the RR isnt too hot round the streets, and slow riding. I mean its ok it will manage but its not exactly ideal,i mean i wouldnt do street riding if i could help it. Where th RR really excels is when its on the track or on the quicker roads, going round corners quicker etc. Im sure if it was a trackday test then the RR would be one of the better bikes.
Also why it might be quite a way down is because its so easy to ride, like it is just so smooooooth, you hardly notice some things sometimes. Like when you go round a corner at approx 80-100 mph you dont feel like youre goin that fast, but if you were on a GSX-R or something it would probably feel really quick and a bit more scary! That could be why aswell. Its just so smoooooooth!

I don't really mind riding mine around town with mine. The ride angle is a little severe which can make it alittle hard on the body to ride. I guess in comparison to a bike like the F4i that sits up a lot more then I would rate the RR down there more. If you compared it to other sport bikes I would think it would be very similar to others.
I ride hi-way and city going to and from work and I think the 600rr is a dream. My commute is about 30 miles each direction. The only thing is getting stuck in traffic and the heat from the exhaust is unforgiving on a hot day! Other than that I love riding to work, it makes getting up in the morning worth while.
