moved up to riding leather pants from city leather pants
I found the last of the Lev'it pants which got discontinued. There was no short size available. The over all length is bit longer but it is manageable with boots. however the knee armors are also bit lower and bottom of the armor was curving towards the shin. So I decided to take it out. Is that defeating the purpose of getting riding pants?
Removed the knee armor? To me, I think that yes, that defeats one of the main purposes of riding pants. OTOH, lots of times armor that's either in 'underwear' (what they call it; I call it more like tights), or just straps directly onto your leg, often fits better anyway.
I cut the bottom a little, and when I bend my knee, it is ok. Only when I am standing, it hit the shin area. So I will leave it in like that. I might be very well dressed to ride in the city than anybody else here. lol.
besides the risk of having an *** cheek ground off, shorts and knee pads are safer riding attire than leather pants without the knee armor....
bought some agv sport solare pants a couple weeks ago, the knee armor only does any good if my knees are bent, if i am standing up straight they are below my knees, on the bike a bit high. although if i hit my knees on the ground with my legs straight i have way bigger issues....
soo wish some one made over the boot perforated leather riding pants.

But I agree with the problem with knee amour. when my legs are straight, it will still hit my shin area. And I agree with you. If you hit the grounds with that position, I think shin area will have more damages.
Not really Yum, the thing about armor is it protects the joints. We tend to put the most pressure on our joints and they are usually the most vulnerable in a crash. I would rather have Kevlar riding pants with knee pads than leather pants with no armor. Of course proper riding leathers are best, but the armor really is very important!
So does everybody's knee armor drop below knee when the leg is straight? is this normal? Will i get used to this eventually?

Yes, that is perfectly normal. If you want a MotoGP rider when he jumps off, he will try to stay in the tucked position a bit so that the armor and airbag cover all his important joints while he is sliding. The BBC did a cool pre-race special last year when the airbag suit was released, it was really interesting! If you search around a bit you may be able to find it. They talked about Kanga-leather and it's benefits as well as the armor materials and how they work.
