Is cbr600rr right for some one like me who is not a total newbie
$8K or even $8600 with taxes and all that for a 2011 is a darn good deal.n Like Russel said just get some seat time under your belt. Take it slow at first and just get used to how the bike accelerates, brakes, handles and you'll be just fine. Congrats on the purchase.
Thanks a lot for all the support. Where do you all buy jackets? Any good websites or should i just go to a dealer and get it. I am looking for something with red/black color. I prefer it to be with honda logo but i will be fine without one as well.
What I would do is go to the dealer and look for one that you like and try it on to make sure it fits then surf the web to look for a better deal. You can normally get it on ebay for cheaper than what the dealer has it for and you can check out other places like Amazon, Kneedraggers.com, Motorcycle superstore, etc. If you have a smart phone you might be able to pull up the price on your phone and show the dealer that you can buy it cheaper online and they might be able to work with you so you walk out the door with it instead of waiting for it to ship. I do that with gloves, helmets, etc.
I cannot say if it is a good buy or not, I have not seen any pictures!

I like Revzilla for purchases. They price match and have good prices to start with.
Wow! Sounds like you got a great deal. I recently joined the CBR ranks with a new 2009 600rr in June. Before that, I had literally NEVER sat on a motorcycle--though I'm an avid driver and car enthusiast. I took the MSF course immediately. I also watched by best friend break his back on his CBR the week after I picked up mine. (He's fine and will make a full recovery.) In short, I've been very conservative and haven't had any trouble using a 600rr as a "learning bike." I LOVE it, and I can't imagine all the years of fun I could have had if I hadn't waited so long to pick one up.
Oh, and post some pics!

You'll also read you have to go to MSF or you'll crash into a tree, you have to wear every piece of safety gear possible or a 747 will land on you, and you should leave it in 2nd gear riding through town so you can skip lightspeed and go strait to ludacris speed to avoid a crash.
All of it is rubbish. That said, if your even asking if you can handle it, its probably too much for you. Anyone can ride any sportbike made. Just don't give it lots of throttle and it doesn't go fast, a concept lost on many it seems.

the last part of your post sums it up for me nicely how ever. I do agree the concept of being careful and giving the machine respect gets lost and it gets lost very quickly.
i bought my 06 CBR600RR 4 1/2 months ago and it was my first bike. I now have almost 5k miles on the bike. I got a little chit from a couple friends after a few rides bc they said I was riding really slow. but they weren't serious about it. I told them I wasn't going to push my self until I really understood my motorcycle. which brings me back to the topic of "respecting whats between your legs" LOL!
so I will say I think with you already having riding experience on and off road, I honestly think you will be ok with a 600 as I had no experience and am doing just fine. just be careful and use that noggin of yours and you will be just fine!
