Question Is cbr600rr right for some one like me who is not a total newbie

I have been riding 100-125 cc motorcycles on streets and highway in thailand since i was 17 years old. I used them for about 10 years. I am 31 now and am settled in US. Thinking about getting a motorcycle. I was considering either a ninja 650 r or honda cbr 600 rr. I would love to get cbr600rr because i love the looks of it and its cooler than ninja 650r. Do you think it would be very difficult to ride? I am pretty comfortable with the concepts of riding a motorcycle(clutches, throttle, balancing etc).

On all the forums i have read its says that cbr600rr is not for newbies. I would like to think that i am not a newbie but i havent driven anything more powerful than a kawasaki eliminator 125cc.

If i take it nice and slow, would cbr 600 rr is okay?

I am new to this forum and would like to thank everyone in advance.

I think that the 600RR would be a perfect bike for you. Sounds like you have enough experience on a bike to understand how everything on a bike works and throttle control. You should definitely pick one up. Start off easy on it and build your confidence up because it is a completely different animal than a 125 but you'll have it down in no time. Good luck and welcome to the Forum. Be sure to post pics when you get it.

The Ninja 650R is NOT AN INLINE 4. A co-worker bought it NEW, rode it for 4 weeks, sold it and bought a ZX6R. I would stray away from the Ninja 650R. He had ridden dirt bikes growing up, didn't do his research and got DOOPED by Pete's Cycle. Do your research (not just this website).

My personal opinion would be to get, at least, a 600. I would be confident that you could ride a 600 easily.

Yeah I think you'd be just fine on a 600RR.

Lower displacement bikes are just more forgiving than larger ones on a general rule, but as long as you're safe and responsible you'll be fine.

Besides you have a good bit of experience, just take your time getting used to the new power and feel!

Let us know when you pick one up

On all the forums i have read its says that cbr600rr is not for newbies
You'll also read you have to go to MSF or you'll crash into a tree, you have to wear every piece of safety gear possible or a 747 will land on you, and you should leave it in 2nd gear riding through town so you can skip lightspeed and go strait to ludacris speed to avoid a crash.
All of it is rubbish. That said, if your even asking if you can handle it, its probably too much for you. Anyone can ride any sportbike made. Just don't give it lots of throttle and it doesn't go fast, a concept lost on many it seems.

I KNOW you'd be fine on a 600. I started riding back in 2008 (when I was 19) on a Ninja 250 and just this past year decided to upgrade. Back in June got an '05 600rr and I looooooooove that thing to death. I haven't pushed the bike to its limits yet but I don't feel the need to. Pretty sure it has a bit more power behind it than I know what to do with.
That being said, I'm a female rider. Bikes/cars/anything of the sort does not run in my veins. Seeing as you've been riding for waaaay longer, I know you'll be fine and happy as a clown fish once you own a 600rr. Promise =)

Thanks a lot for all the comments.Today I bought a used 2011 cbr600rr-red without ABS from a private seller for $8000.Had to pay 600 dollars for tax and registration/plates at the registry. It only had 2000 miles and is immaculate..no scratches, dents, never been down. Is it a good deal?

I will post some pictures soon

I rode it for about 80 miles today. 20 miles in the town and rest on highway. I think i did fine. Was able to make turns and stop at signals without the engine stopping and was able to keep up on the highway. Any tips while learning to getting used to the power of this machine would be appreciated. Any common mistakes to avoid??

Nothing more than any other bike. Respect the machine, don't become cocky and think you're Mr. Invincible, ride safe and be smart.
