RE: break in????
Yeap. new engines must be broken in. Vary the RPMS and no 12k shifting. there's a lot of metal bits in the oil and you'd be wise not to test that ****ty oil. Change oil at 600mi. It's up to you weather or not you want to go Full Synthetic because after the brake in, it really doesn't matter.
the other method is to Run the **** out of it durring the first 30 minutes of operation at warm engine temp. I have heard conflicting debate about this method so i took the dealers advice and just varied the RPM. Running around town on short roads with lots of stops is probably best, that way you vary the rpms a LOT.

RE: break in????
there is a post somewhere in june with a bit of this discussion. Honda says they dyno the motor before it leaves the factory so it requires no break in. That is supposedly why other manufacturers put a break in sticker on the tach. Never seen one on a honda and i bought my 05 600RR new and rode it off the floor the same way I ride today. Currently 6k miles and other than replacing brakes (cause i sometimes ride like an *** ) no probs. I did switch to Hondas semi synthetic at the 600 mile service.

RE: break in????
If you want your bike to last... Try, as hard as it is, to shift before 4k rpm untill 600 mi then 8k untill 1000mi, but make sure you do as many easy turns as you can because the new tires have a light film of some sort of oil on them try to get it all off b4 you get to nutty in the twisties. other than that if you take it easy your brakes should wear in normally. After you put 1000 mi under its belt thats when it time to go have some real fun.
