Break In
I know this is a very controversial topic, but wondering if anybody has any experience with trying different break in methods on a new CBR600RR...
I am picking up my 2009 CBR600RR today and was going to break it in just like my last bike by basically just riding "normal." 3/4 throttle max, stay away from very low RPMs, and try and vary speed and gears as much as possible.
Does this sound about right? Any suggestions? Any experience here?
Thanks!
By the way, new to the CBR world and cant FING wait to get to the dealership today to drive my new toy home!!!

Well - there are a couple schools of thought on it, but I believe your more conservative, and traditional method is what I would do. Varying RPM's increasing slowly as the miles increase. Not keeping it at one speed for long.
There is the other school of thought that if you run it HARD that is the better procedure. Of course the Honda Lawyers are never going to print that in the manual. You might want to do a little research on the internet because there is certainly research to support this method.
Oh - and ENJOY!!

so i looked in the owners manual (what a concept!) and read the break in recommendations... i was surprised. i used to own a kawasaki and the break in for it was 1000 miles as outlined in the manual.
the honda recommendations aare simply 300 miles. i guess thats why its a honda and not a kawasaki. lol. needless to say, upon hitting 300 miles i opened her up and wow.
