2003 cbr600rr wont start!!!

2003 cbr600rr wont start!!!
Looking for some advice... I just purchased a CBR600RRwith 23k off of one of my buddies heve it for a summer and after that he couldnt get it too start. 
I have changed the starter relay put a new starter wire in it because the old had a couple wires torn off one of the ends and bought a new battery for it and still nothing... I turn the kill swtch on the injectors prime and the lights turn on but as soon as i hit the start button it just clicks doesnt turn over at all im thinking there is resistance in the positive and negative cable because they do get warm. I also noticed that the ground wire was attached to one of the mounting bolts on the starter and im not really sure if thats factory. Any suggestions will help a ton. Will try to answer all questions as best i can dont know much about bikes as this is my first one. Thank in advance for taking time to help me out.
