What do you mean by maxed out? A -1/+2 will yield higher operating RPMs at the speeds you normally travel but will yield higher engine output for things such as wheelies (they are easier). At 75 or so, your motor will run higher RPM than factory (highway speeds) because of this gearing switch. You have low end grunt with the sacrifice of high end and gas mileage. Your bike has a 15k redline and 7-8 isn't maxed out.

You have shifted the power band of your bike. It should feel different in the midrange. High end will feel like less and mid/low will feel better. It is the nature of change.

if you are trying to excelerate get on that gas, it should start kicking in above 7-8k, not winding out. get on that gas and she'll go.
