RE: sprockets question
my 600 is an 05 as well. i have a vortex 15 tooth for the front i w am putting on but i count the teeth and there is only 14 teeth. vortex doesnt even make a 14 tooth for our bike. WTF why do they call it a 15 tooth front sprocket when there is really only 14 teeth?

RE: sprockets question
another reverse question. i know most people want the most power as they can have and maby change up the gearing with sprockets in order to do stand up weelies, but does anyone think the bike will act negatively if you change the gearing the oposite way. and when you do change your sprockets either way does the speedometer get thrown off and is it corectable with the PCIII? im not into the whole one will thing so i just want to be able to go fast and keep the rpms a little lower at highway speeds to save on gas if i want. any feed back would be great.

RE: sprockets question
Let's see who answers first... when I get home in a few hours, I have a stock 16T and my 14T counter sprocket on my desk at home. I will count and post the answer for you. But here’s a though. I’m 90% sure that when I took my 16t off I counted the teeth as I inspected it for any damage or abnormal wear… I could have counted one of them twice, but I really don’t think I did. Every sprocket I’ve bought or came across new in package were in a plastic box that you can open/re-close to look at. They do have the teeth number stamped on them… have you looked to see if someone put the wrong sprocket/cog in wrong box?
The speedo is off now. Our bikes come that way from the factory. If you change any gearing, it will make it worse. If you gear for more torque (down in front/up in back) your speedo will read faster. And if you change the other way... your speedo will read slower. I'm not sure, but I've never read anyone going with less torque. Doing so will increase your wheelbase and the handling, plus from what I've read (never tested for a good reason) we can't redline our bikes in 6 gear. That means you still have a little torque left over with stock gearing. If you go up in the front or down in the back... you're going to accelerate a lot slower.
If you're not in it for torque... stick with the stock gearing.
