Actually you're down about 25% on power. At 5000 feet, you're above 25%of the atmoshpere by mass. So you're only burning 75% of the oxygen you used to, and to keep the mixture correct, your fuel injection is providing that same 75%. A power commander may help, but no matter what you do, you will only be producing 75% of what you would at sea level. Forced induction.....

I know this works for cars - especially those import tuners that get mods in the garage . . .
Disconnect the battery on the bike for at least 15 minutes.
Reconnect the battery after the proper waiting period.
Ride it like you stole it.
The theory is this - disconnecting the battery for that length of time essentially clears the memory on the engine's computer (ECM, whatever you wanna call it . . .) . The engine's computer basically has to re-learn it's mappings - apart from those that are hard-coded into the system.
Good luck - I hope you can get the problem resolved inexpensively.

hey thanks for the help gents. I went to a huge shop here in Denver. something Fae's... I think.... any way, they basicaly told me I'm screwed unless I get a power commander to help with the air fuel mixture. according to them our bikes do not have an oxygen sensor and they come directly tuned for sea level. without an O2 sensor there is no way for the bike to adjust for the lack of air molecules in the higher elevation. I was not aware that there was no O2 sensor and assumed that the bike would eventually compensate for such environments. I guess PC is the only way to attempt to alieveite this problem. thanks again.

The California bikes came with an O2 sensor. Im not sure what would be the cheaper route, buying a power commander or trying to install an O2 sensor but its something you should definately look into before you rush off and start buying things.
