Default Hey, is this a good deal?

I've been looking around for a used CBR 600RR to get and I found this one located in Austin TX (about an hour an a half away).
Current asking price on the ad is 5,900 but when i called he said 5,500 unless i didn't hear him right.
The bike has been tipped and it was rebuilt (he didn't say how or what damages are done to it)

It's an 2003 CBR 600rr with new black paint, chrome sliders and bar ends, seat covers, smoked screen, clear flush mounts and tail light, rear eliminator, etc. etc. etc with 5758 miles on it.

I'm asking one of my friends with a 600rr to go test ride it for me this weekend, i'm just confused as why it has to be rebuilt and what he meant by it. If it's just like fairings and stuff then i'm not so worried, it's more of engine and stuff. I"m thinking of asking him 5,000 for it since it has been on ad for a while. What do you think.

Also does anyone know how much it cost to get those 2 covers replaced and get the HONDA/CBR badges back on.

Default RE: Hey, is this a good deal?

i just bought a MINT 03' with 5k for $5,000 with some gear included. i bought off ebay, and right now there are 2 or 3 even better deals!! i even seen an 06' with 3k go for $5900!!! i just missed that one.(cried as well) there is a super clean yellow 03' with 1800miles and lots of extras, the guy said hed sell for $5900, also a 04' with 2600 miles and lots of accessories for $5500.
so, in my opinion there are better deals out there, for that money you can get a bike in MINT condition and i wouldnt settle for less...just some ideas

hmmm where do you live because most of the bikes i find on ebay are up north. If that's the case then maybe i should try and shoot my first offer at 4500 and see how it goes.

urgh hey quick question. How much does fairings cost, where can i get them (besides ebay.. unless those are all right) and how hard are they to install? There's a local guy selling a bike, only thing is he dropped it in his driveway so the fairings is kinda scratched.
