I got a problem. I have noticed onmy 99 cbr 600 f4 that after a short or long ride that these past few times it smells much hotter than it has before but all fluids are at good levels and it doesnt seem that anything is leaking and falling and burning on the engine. So i was just wondering if any onewould know what it could be or has had this happen to them an suggestions would be appreciated. the smell is most strong up by the right side on the top side of the engine.

 

Like a sweet smell, buring or what?

 

Make sure your fan runs when the engine gets hot. We had to replace the fuse in my brother's 99 F4 to get the radiatior fan to work.... also smelled hot before.

 

Sometimes my bike does that, but not all the time. I have no leaks and my fan works fine. just keep and eye on it and check for leaks and seeps around the head gasket. Also make sure the fan come on. My fan come on when the temp gauge get to just about the half way point.

 

Mine did the same thing on a recent ride. Its cold and dry now, so maybe you just notice the smell more because of it?

 

Mine smells hot all the time but it is a strong sweet smell right by radiator and my fans are coming on normally.

 

Sounds like your radiator my be leaking. Coolant will have a sweet smell to it. I would really be looking for leaks. Check the RAD, hoeses, overflow bottel and anything else that has to do with the cooling system.
