If the ignition switch is in the on position then it should stay running. Is the idle screw turned out to the proper setting? An easy way to see if it's the fuel pump is to route the fuel line from the tank, straight to the carbs. Make sure the tank is higher than the carbs of course. If it still doesn't stay running then that's one less possibility.

has anything happened to the ignition? there is an anti-theft wire but that is not always the culprit, another option is the fuel level sensor, swap the the two leads that are connected to it, for some reason in mine isn't hooked up right my bike will turn over but wont fire. Doesnt sound like a carb issue just yet.

i dont think its the anti theft but what symptoms do these bikes have when in anti theft mode. i read another thread where i heard these bikes will run without a fuel pump so im gonna try that. the carbs are prob dirty but the air cleaner was still on the motor. if i keep my finger on the starter button shell stay running. the idle screw if turned out a good bit,idk if its in the right position yet.the choke cable is hooked up but doesnt have a full range of motion only goes half way but the cable is routed right.. im almost positive the engine will run good. i cant believe i was able to swap over everything but the motor in 1 day!! i am determined to get this bike running. so ill post pics and results later are more suggestions?

Default okay all help now please

i put a battery in out of my ninja 300 and she can start and run. if i apply throttle she dies so im leaning towards the carbs being dirty at this point but she runs quite and smooth. i disconnected the fuel pump and gravity ran fed the carbs. can this bike run without the fuel pump?what hoses on the carbs need to be connected to run?what should i look for next? the choke still seems to have no affect on the engine.please reply asap if you can help im so close i can taste the f4s power.
