Motorcycle Jack Question
"A Newb Question": but where is the best point on my 2000 Honda CBR 600F4 to lift the bike up? I realize that I will probably have to remove the side cowls but it appears the exhaust hangs lower than the frame, do I have to remove that as well? Also, anyone have any suggestions on a good motorcycle jack? I was looking at the Sears Craftsman Motorcycle/ATV Jack. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I just stick the jack right under the bike and lift it by the headers, make sure you have it stabilized when you do it so it doesnt just flip over onto the side. I use a 1500 lb motorcycle jack from checker http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...goryCode=3098Bgot it on sale for $50.
I find it a lot easier to take off the wheels with the bike on the jackstand rather then on wheel stands. But then to take off the radiator/headers you have to have wheel stands. Just depends on what you're doing to the bike.
bare minumum, get a rear wheel stand. a front may be handy at some point too. i got a reall nice set for a decent price on e-bay. T-rex stand is the name of mine. this thing is solid and i would recommend it.
+1 for T-Rex stands, got em for like $120, rock solid, I feel like I could vault onto my bike and it not budge at all [&:]
