OK I am starting this thread to show the progress of my 1000rr tail conversion on my 2000 F4. I will get some pics tomorrow when I work on it more (it rained all today). Today when I got the tail I just set it up on the subframe to see it would fit and how it would look. Heres what I have concluded so far...you have to move all the wires such as the rectifier and regulator and all that other **** connected to the side of the subframe. I am going to move it under the seat and what not. once I moved the wires and crap I set the tail over the subframe, it fit much better that time. But I had to remove the latch thing, mine didnt work in the first place so no biggie for me. So I took that off and I need to cut about 2 inches or so off the end of the subframe for things to look good. but thats how far I am now and will try and work on it tomorrow. I am going to have trouble getting the rear seat to latch since I never had a lock assembly. I am also going to have to make some brackets for the tail to mount up, but nothing too hard. And it looks awesome.

I will go and take some pics here in a few minutes, I still dont have it bolted on its just resting where I want it. I have to take it over to my buddies shop so he can help me weld up some mounts. Im still pondering on how to get the rear seat latched. Anyone have any ideas?

 

here are the pics, remember its not bolted down and is not finished yet. I have the side fairings off because I painted my clutch cover, the stator cover and the passenger pegs. Let me know what you think. And next week there will be new paint on it, even tho I just painted it like 2 months ago. Anyways here they are.

Looks nice bro, so you're planning on still using the subframe from your F4 right? Cause I know some guys have went and changed over the subframe, and rear plastic, that would solve the seat bolting and the need to weld, but I think they're other issues still with the conversion...

Looks nice though man, can't wait to see what it looks like when you get it done.
Do you do your own paint?
Also, did you take off your clutch cover to paint ot, or did you just tape it off and paint it on the bike?

Yea Im keeping my original subframe, just have to tweak it alittle and the only welding I have to do are some support brackets...no biggie. And you cant bolt on an RR subframe because they are completely different in every way. The other conversion that uses the F4i subframe and tail bolts right up with no problems but with the 1000RR its a little more complicated but not too bad. And yea I do my own paint, I also painted bindelf2's bike...hes up for ROTM right now. And for the clutch cover and stator cover, I didnt take them off. I just taped it off good and prepped it and painted it. I used the newest color of Duplicolor's Metalcast...its called smoke and once I get my new paint on the bike it will look awesome. heres what im planning on painting it.
