Default Metric Size??

Im in the process of taking my bike apart in the garage for some nice cleaning and part replacements and ive already ran into sizing problems. Are most if not all bolts and allen screws metric size? If so a trip to the store is needed ASAP... Thanks

Think I'm using a 22mm on the axle bolts.

To the OP, these bikes are Japanese. If you find a standard size bolt or nut, it's cause the previous owner lost the original and ran to Pepboys for a quick replacement

decimal based math rules!
who the h@#$% knows how many inches are in half a mile plus 3 17/64 yards?
thats just silly... dont answer-
are your guys axle nuts 2 different sizes L-R?
and is it real bad to have tried to take it off from the smaller side not realizing that it was fixed to a tubular through-axle?
sorry- ill go to bed now. im pretty sure i make no sense.

ps. a little socket set is a great first choice tool rather than an open ended wrench-
much less likely to round out your heads should the bolt turn out to be siezed (get it "turn-out"? haha...oh well)
and also its ratchet will save you time and get better clearance possibilities around other nearby parts that may be tryna cramp yer style.
i got a socket set that came w. allen-hex sockets too.
ratchetsockets- handy and a good habbit.
