Default Standard vs. Metric

I get so much crap about riding a Honda instead of an American Harley, but nobody can ever give me a valid reason why Harleys are so much better. Anyway, I have a few reasons why I like my Honda over a Harley and one of them is the horsepower. The Harleys have somewhere around 70 to 80 hp in the stock motors (with the exception of the new "Revolution" motors) and I know my little 600 pushes out more. The Bikez.com website says it has 111 hp, but others have claimed it is less. Anyone have the horsepower numbers for a stock 2002 CBR 600 F4i? Thanks.

at best you're looking at 96-98 unless you have a factory beast...

you know...although harleys are down on HP you may want to check the specs on the torque.

I've got an F4. We dyno'ed 3 - F4's one night and got a range of 85-101 hp (all had aftermarket pipes).

I'd expect the F4i to be a closer grouping... but about 95hp. That is real world rear wheel horsepower...

Torque numbers are really low however... < 50.

I don't think you can argue that a honda is better because of hp... I think you could argue that the Honda is an easy to ride bike that is for the most part as maintance free as you can get. The cbr will handle well and as much of a sport bike it is, is still going to be nice for highway miles.

Personal choice. I wouldn't buy a Harley because it was American Iron... I'd buy it if it fit my needs... anyone who buys it for the image alone is a loon.

I know... but I don't say anything about that. Most of these morons I argue with don't even know what torque is. But once I bring up this (ridiculous) point about horsepower, then they become a bit subdued about the superiority of their precious Harley Davidsons. Not that I have anything against Harleys, just morons. Thanks for the numbers.

Be careful with those bolt-ons, I came close to stripping my slip on clamps' bolts. The bolt that hangs the pipe from the peg.

It is funny I that I should see a bumper sticker on a pick-up truck the day after I post something about Harleys, Hondas and torque. The bumper sticker said "My lawnmower puts out more torque than your Honda does." Well I guess some people know what torque is. The debate continues....
