Misinformation abounds... The F4 *is* a carburetor bike.

The 2001 F4i began fuel injection.

I think he was simply saying that you told him to test drive both, not that you have an F4.

This is correct. This is why I wanted a 2001. First year Honda added FI to their sport bikes.

The F4 (1999-2000) was carbureted. Then in 2001 they changed the name to F4i. The "i" means Fuel Injected.

F4's are sweet and cheap to run with the availability of most F4i parts but that one looks like it's had a hard life. I would stay away from that particular one. That F3 on the other hand looks as clean as you'll find an older sportbike. My verdict is I would hold out and keep saving for a better F4 or F4i to come along or buy the F3. My brother picked up an F4i in great shape for 3200 so I know smokin deals are out there.
