F4 carb issues, advice needed
Hi guys. I'm running an utterly stock 2000FY, have overhauled MANY things to get back on the road after an 8yr SORN. Carbs included. Had an issue with floatbowl letting by and filling up my crankcase!! Sorted that now, but still have erratic fuel issue. On centrestand it is fine starting and revving right up there, but on sidestand the far left cylinder seems..reluctant. Needle valves also changed, could it still be that even though the pump brings all bowls up to pressure with no obvious leaks , the needle is letting by? Pessure 'seems' to hold ok. I've had this bike from new so i know no other issues are hiding. Thanks
Hi, welcome to the forum.
I hate to say it, but it still sounds like you have issues with the carbs. Once they have some muck in them and after 8 years I would expect there to be some they require very thorough cleaning, including the hidden channels.
They are notoriously difficult to clean properly and will continue to give you problems until done properly.
Some folks on here have had 3 or 4 goes before getting them fully cleaned.
Good luck
