Hi all, so I have noticed that the engine in my CBR600F (99) knocks on occasion at around 3,000 RPM, the engine is smooth either side of this, however does give the odd knock at 3,000. This has also been highlighted in the most recent service history.

Does anyone know the possible solution or indeed problem? (it is not a rhythmic knock, it is random and only happens at 3k rpm)

Does not seem to effect performance, and engine is perfect both above and beolow 3,000

So what did the shop tell you it was when they 'highlighted' it?

 

You could run a tank of gas with seafoam or better yet the bottle of techron; not a guarenteed fix but it could help.

 

Didn't feel or hear any issues with the engine while out today! Will give an update over the coming days to see if it was a one off!

 

any mechanical knocks are going be very consistent. they'll be rhythmic. and while some knocks may be louder or more noticeable at certain rpms - they'll still be there because that knock happens in every revolution.


and you will most certainly notice an engine knock. they're very distinctive and they sound so bad for the motor.
