Default Ahh engine knock??

Whats goin on guys i havent been on here in a while. So as the title states it seems as if i have a knock in my engine. I dont think it was there when i got the bike but im trying to rule out options here. Dont think it matters but the bike seems to get a bit hot when im in stop and go, like the temp gauge goes to about 3/4 the way up after about ten min. of stop and go. But as for the knocking you cant hear anything on startup but after riding for like 10 min and pull up to a light if you rev it a little you hear it a bit but on the "downrev" you can here it pretty clearly. Now i believe i read the cam chain tensioner is notorious for going bad on these bikes but please correct me if im wrong. im putting in 93 shell v power idk what else it could be im hoping its not a rod. help me out guys.

Thanks, Ricky

Usually the CCT makes noises when the bike is cold. It will make a clear tick noise and goes away as the bike gets warmer.

it does sound like a little of a rod knock...release the pressure on the crank(downrev) and it knocks a little...start with the cct, if that helps..great then it was that. if its not you may have to dig into your engine

Nooo, damnit I was really hoping it wasnt that. I might as well buy a new engine if it continues to get worse...

These bike are notorious for bad CCT. How many miles are on it? I had the same problem with my 954. I got the CCT changed and it went away. Do this and see if it helps. If not you got some other kind of problem.

If it ends up not being the CCT, I wouldn't go out replace the engine. I would open it up and look for the bearing that is failing. It would be a cheaper fix than replacing the whole engine. By the way, it could also be a bearing in the transmission.
