Default Cbr600F4 camchain rattle?

Howdy!

Once I warmed it up the engine on my bike, there is a rattling, ticking sound from the left side of the engine. It sounds nothing on a cold start or on a bit higher revs, only at idle speed. The Honda is a -99 F4, and has approximately 13000miles (20000km). I tried googling around for some info, and most obviously suggests that the cam chain tensioner has given up. Anyone know how to change it, and if it´s difficult? Or is it time for a Valve adjustment? Pictures that show is nice

I am grateful for the response
sorry for my spelling

Sincerely

yes you have the tipacle f4 rattle they say to get the valves adjusted every 15k ans you looking at 200-350 for a shop to do the valves. As far as the cam chain tensioner very easy to do. go with the manual cct it will keep the rattles away. and it consist of taking the gas tank off or proping it up and and you will see it on the right side and on the back of the motor putting the new on in and tuning it, and putting it back together an hour of your day. I did both and the bike dont sound the same its so quiet ans runs so much better.

Mines rattles a little as well. But does changing it just stop the sound or does it even really need to be done?

It is not good to run with a rattling engine, but if it's just a minor sound, it probably won´t damage the engine. I will submit my cbr to the workshop, and they can adjust the valves. And I will change the cct.

Thank you very much for the help

The CCT is so easy to do yourself! Valves too but it takes longer I'm sure (about to do mine but I have a Haynes manual which helps).
