Bah! CCTL finally caught up to me...
JUST a week after i rolled over 10k milesi am getting the rattling over 5k RPM... it happens everytime and only over 5k RPM. I dont have a problem buying the part and doing the work, but i am curious if it is harmful to ride with it the way it is for a while. I dont want to F anything up, but i dont have time to do it this Fall and have already planned to do a bunch of stuff to my '99 F4 in the winter, i would add this to the list.
So, can i safely go another thousand miles?

My bike is in the shop right now for a service and getting a manual CCT installed. Mine was getting bad and the noise was driving me crazy. If you are only going to put another 1K on the bike then you should be fine if it just started to make the noise. Over time it can make a problem if the cam chain gets to loose it can jump teeth and knock the bike out of time and the pistons could hit the valves. I would get it fixed as soon as you can just to be safe and replace it with a manual one so you never have to do it again. The down side to the manual one is it's still a PITA to get to to do the adjustment.
