Default Backfire problem

I was riding the other day and the engine seemed to be losing power, eventually backfired and then wouldn't start for a solid half hour. Since then I've started it and road it a few times without any issue... Should I be concerned?

When did the engine loose power? (What was the throttle position?) When you start the bike do you use the choke? How much have you ridden since it has done the problem you described? And how long had you been riding when the problem occurred?

Throttle was about 3/4 when it first happened I was on the highway coming home going about 85mph. Yes I do use choke when I start the bike. I've rode it two other times, probably for about 30 miles or so without any incident. When the backfire occurred I was on the bike for about 30 minutes.

To answer your main question... Yes you should be concerned *IF* the problem continues. But for now no. If the problem continues my guess would be a carb issue.

What I would do if I were you is go out and buy some "Seafoam" at autozone, checkers or whatever auto parts store you go to. (It'll cost about 9 or 10 bucks.) You can put a half bottle into your gas tank and pour some straight into you carbs. http://www.seafoamsales.com/motor-treatment/index.html If you're unsure then research it yourself. But it may help whatever problem that might be there and *Maybe* prevent future carb issue problems.

Edit: Here is an official video on seafoam if you'r doubtful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D11ZV...layer_embedded
