Default backfire problem

hi guys, any help would be appreciated, when Im at the stop sign or stop light. About every 10 second I would get a loud 3 or 4 explosion like pum pum pum and BIG PUMP, then it repeats. I changed my spark plugs but forgot to gap them. Could that be the problem? Thank you

Default RE: backfire problem

With out hearing or seeing what is going on... I would check the timing of the engine. Timing can make things backfire or run like a lawnmower. I would check the gap of the plugs... just to make sure that a plug isn't firing at low or idle speeds. Did the problem start up when you put in the new plugs or did you get the plugs to possibly solve the problem? The timing can be checked... it is just time consuming to do so. Let me know if you need instructions from a CBR 600 Honda manual, I can copy them and post them to the thread.
