Default Airbox Question

if you take the screws out, and remove the cover, and then take out the inner screws, pull out the two pieces, there are two foam pad/foam filters, how important are these? none of my gsxr's had this, and when i removed them for cleaning the airbox, one of them tore, can they just be removed, i cant find new ones to buy

If your talking about the actual air filter, I would say thats pretty important unless you feel like sucking whatever flies into the ram air tubes right into the engine. Plus the extra airflow would most likely make you have to rejet. Just order an air filter off eBay or right from Honda.

He's not talking about the actual air filter as his post clearly describes. Those pre-filter the crank vent tubes to help keep oil out of the breather box. I removed mine long ago with no side effects. If you want to replace them the OEM part number is 17226-MBW-000

That's what i did, though if you wanted you could get some of that universal filter material from any bike shop or small engine shop and cut a couple pieces down to size.
