Default airbox sensor question

I changed my air filter and was looking at the sensor... HOW DOES THIS THING WORK?
it looks like a cone with no hole at the end... how does it measure the amount of air?

also what's the best way to put back the tank
I always take 30min to put it back together because of the bolts that don't align right, especially in the front, its always too short so I have to push the tank hard infront to try to align them but sometimes doesnt work. I found putting the bolts infront first than rear is a little bit easier.

dunno about the sensor, just let it be mang!

as far as the tank, don't tighten it up all the way, just the the threads in there first and then once they're all in tighten it.

Which sensor are you talking about?

You have the following and the name kind of explain them:
MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
TP (throttle position) sensor
IAT (intake air temperature) sensor
ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor.

the sensor is the iat intake air temperature sensor it doesnt measure volume of air that is the map sensors job basically what it does is calculates air density based on temp ( from iat ) and inputs from the map sensor

I thought MAP was manifold air pressure?

Ya, that's it!! If you don't have enough check valves a turbo will destroy it -- not a cheap sensor ... don't ask how I know ...
