Default airbox question

Hi, I'm new here. I've bought CBR1000F '91 few months ago, but unfortunatelly now here, in Latvia,is not nice wheather condition to drive. So i'm start to check my new old bike very carefully. I changed the bearings in the wheels, check and clean carbs, have doen some other small things. But I found that airbox is bad condition. It have few minor cracks and side inlet tubes are cutted so they are not positioned at correct place totake air in. So I'm thinking to remove it at all and install instead of airbox for air filter over carbs inlets. Is it worth? And should I after manage something else to do? Thanks.

Just get the silicone out and fix the current airbox.

I read you can get pod filters... one for each cylinder... but the tuning becomes very sporty so I just pluged up the leaks in my airbox and replaced the filter.

What air hoses? there's the inlets (one on each side) and the two twin baffled things between the airbox and the carby... no hoses?
