Air / Fuel Mixture Screw Settings 2000 F 4
All,
I'm looking for some assistance regarding the air/fuel mixture screws on the carbs of my by Honda CBRF4. I cleaned out the carbs thoroughly, replaced seals, etc. when the carbs we're put back on the bike, it wasn't running great on idle as it would shut off unless I open the throttle. I decided to remove again and clean the air/fuel mixture screws (grommet, washer spring).
I made the mistake of not counting the turns each was open as I removed them to clean.
Now the fun part. Put the air/fuel mixture screws in at 2-1/8 turns to start. The bike had trouble running idle until it warmed up.
Changed the setting after looking at the manual ( manual states to start at 3-1/8 turns out and then use a tachometer to find the highest RpM then turn in or out to drop RPM by 50 and from that point turn out another 3/4 turn)
Since I don't have the tach or he honda air/fuel screwdriver (90 degree bent) I can't do that.
I changed the setting to 3-7/8 turns out (3-1/8 plus the 3/4 turn done as the final step)
Runs better at idle, pulls great during takeoff up to 4k RPM. If you open the throttle, the bike has a hard time trying to move smoothly between 4k-7k. It really struggles to get from 70mph to anything above. Two times I heard a backfire while finally reaching 80mph.
Question -
Do you guys that have cleaned out your carbs have your air fuel mixture settings that you could share?
Additional Information :
Bike is stock
East coast - Maryland location
My next option is going to be to start at 3-1/8 turns out and see how that feels in comparison, but if someone could help it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
