99 Cbr 600 question
Hello I'm new to this forum
I bought this cbr a few weeks ago. Guy said it ran great turns out it does not.
The bike is a 99 600. It starts up runs fine until I take it down the road seems like 1/2 mile or so and it starts to cut out and stall. Almost like it is running out of fuel. Pull over wait a few mins choke it and starts back up. Seems to run ok around my driveway and slow speeds. Before I bought it he had some work done one of the new parts was fuel Petcock. I have tried opening the gas cap and checking vent tubes. They both didn't help.
Where should I check next? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Good on you for having checked the vent and drawing a vacuum on the tank. Had you not done that, it would have been my first recommendation.
I agree with demon. Low fuel supply would be my first guess... now why? Is the tank full? Does the problem get worse when the tank is low? Have you checked the petcock to make sure it's in the correct position? Pump is possible. This isn't a high pressure pump, but you can check to make sure it is flowing. There is also a fuel "filter" (I don't the the fiche calls it a filter, but there's something) that could be restricting flow. Rust in the tank?
This doesn't feel like a Carb issue. I could be wrong.

The only way to test I think is what my mechanic friend said to do and that's to disconnect from the Carbs and hit the starter to make sure to see it's pumping petrol out.
Make sure you have some rag and a small bucket to catch that precious fuel!
I've not long ago replaced my Fuel Pump and would say if it's the original and 10 years old then it's likely pretty worn by now like mine was.
I first tried replacing just the points which are around £20 but it did not work for me so got a new OEM fuel pump unit for £80, A new one from Honda was quoted at around £235.
