One of the resons it didn't spark when it was touching your tongue is the plug wasn't grounded.to check for spart pull the plug. and ground the threds to the bike and try it then. are your plugs getting wet? is there is fuse blown?

If it's a resistor I would assume it has a color band on it indicating the resistance value, or is this resistor embedded within epoxy or otherwise color-bandless?
