Default 2 up suspension settings

Howdy, I'm waiting for my Haynes manual to arrive but I'll just post my question here in case the manual doesn't give a clear answer. I have my rear preload at 3 (just changed it from 2 to 3, turning into corners became much nicer) but I'll be riding a lot with a pillion starting next week. She's about 130 pounds or so (I'm 6'3" around 200 pounds). Which setting would you recommend for the rear preload for 2 up riding?

Thanks all.

Standard Preload position is 3. 1 being softest, 7 being heaviest.
Given your weight constraints for 2up, I'd recommend a firmer position, 5-6 (start lower & adjust as necessary to preference).

Standard Rebound position is medium. If doing standard street riding, I'd recommend keeping it at medium.

Standard Compression Damping adjuster setting is at the mark (ie. mark to mark).

For Reference: I put my preload at 5 for 2up but don't weigh as much as you. Rebound is set at standard (medium). Compression is set at standard.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot gotcbr. I'm going to set my rear preload at 4 if 3 is standard (just to check it out). What does the manual say about preload vs weight. x pounds per click? I know suspension settings are constantly asked but I'm still waiting for my manual.
Do you adjust your front preload too for 2up?

Thanks again. I'm going to review my settings now. I'm a sporty rider but feel that the previous owner might have set it too harsh for strickly street riding. Bumpy roads beat me up.

I don't have my manuals handy at the moment but I don't believe you're going to find a chart like what you're asking for in the manuals. Suspension setup can be very subjective rider to rider. Thus, set your suspension at standard factory settings & adjust to preferences using those general guidelines. I know that doesn't strictly answer your question but its the best advice I can give.

As for the front, my recommendation is to set it the way you would for *you* & leave it.

You can do adjustments yourself but if you have a chance at some point to have a suspension pro work w/ you, you'll be surprised how good your bike can feel after they help you get it dialed in specifically for you.

There is a wealth of information on the forum here about suspension settings. Do as many searches as you can & read everything you can. Start here... https://cbrforum.com/forum/search.php?searchid=970966

Til you receive your manual, here's a couple of links for the factory Honda shop manual that you can download. Don't know if they still work but last I checked they did. You'll want a copy of the factory service manual anyway. Its very helpful.

Hope you get it dialed in like you want.

Thanks once again gotcbr,

I've actually had the stock manual pdf file for a while now but it only shows what goes where and how to remove/install it. Not how to set up the suspension. I could have sworn I read somewhere that the Haynes manual provided more detailed info e.g. x weight is setting x (but only for preload I think..). I'll see once I get it I guess. I have also asked a specialist what it would cost to set the bike up for me but he was trying to up sell me to brand new springs etc etc etc. I don't feel like an extra $500 because I probably won't do any track days on my bike. All I need is the best possible with what I have. I'll show around and see if someone can help me set it up soonish.

Anyway, thanks again
