I would say the same, unless you have ran the bike out of oil and burnt up the chain and other parts the chain will last past 100k. the faulty part is the cct

how tight are you supposed to torque the manual cctl's?

I've been trying to figure that one out also, when I changed mine to manual I just went hand tight, then started the bike and slow cranked it down to where bike didn't make noise threw all rpm range. Its worked so far but I know there has to be another (true) way to do it.

was reading this post and I'm having the same problem. I replaced the cctl with the factory one and still have the rattle was going to try the manual cctl, but I ran my bike out of oil as you said so I was wondering if it was worth trying the manual one?

if the cctl needs tightening, what type of noise does it produce? just recently, when cruising around on mid rpm's, i started hearing a "fluttering" sounds, that in best comparison kinda sounds like an exhaust leak, coming from the front/right front of the bike..it seems to do it only under load. and ive felt around but cant feel escaping exhaust..does this sound like a cctl that needs tightening?
