will not start
98 f3 was driving down the road and just started to cut out and would not restart. cleaned the carbs put new plugs in and still nothing. put some gas down in the carbs and it would fire up for a few seconds. but with the tank on nothing. check the filter and the pet **** all good. now maybe fuel pump i tested to see if the wires were hot going to the pump and they r. but i cant feel the pump kick on or make any kinda of sound. would ya be able to hear it i took the black cover off and the concats look good. any other idea's always started good and ran good till that sad day.
To test the fuel pump, you can bypass the Fuel Cut relay. The Fuel Cut relay is located in front of the Ignition Control Module on the right side of the bike. Disconnect the 3P connector to the Fuel Cut Relay and use a suitable jumper wire between the Black/White wire and the Black/Blue wire. The fuel pump should run continously. If it doesn't run, then the fuel pump is bad. If the pump does run, then it could be a bad Fuel Cut relay (very rare) or loose connections for the Blue/Yellow wire which is the control line for the relay when the bike is running.
can u hear the fuel pump when ya turn the key on. and would it pump while crannking over. and if the pump is bad would it make the bike not start at all it just cranks over and does not even try to fire. where do ya get that concact at for the fuel pump i cant find any.
its not like a fuel injected car, you dont hear it when you turn the ignition on. it only works when youre trying to start, and when its running. you should feel it "pulse" like a heart beat (will be kinda slow) when its trying to fire but you wont actually hear anything.
