Default Where to even start.

Picked up cbr f3 (1998) for 600$ as a complete parts bike with missing fairings. Didnt know till I got home how highly modified this cbr was. Head work, intake, full race exhaust, jets, sprokets, moddified forks, the whole sahbang. It runs! But here's my list I need help with.

1. Only starts when cold. Choke cable leads to nowhere and the thing that slides the choke is missing on the carbs. So is it stuck with the choke on? I have to turn fuel off and crank over for about 15-30 secods before it fires then I have to switch fuel back on.

2. Is the fuel pump suspose to prime before hiting the start button? It pumps when I hit starts and when its running.

3. Does the fan switch ground out to a switch type deal on the left side of the radiator? Its wired to a toggle switch right now.

4. Head light blows fuses left and right with no visible short.? Has h4 spot light setup.

Thanks for any and all help guys and gals.

And don't forget to check me out on ROTM!!!!

ok..
1. Find the choke cable..if its only loose, then it should be routed on the right side, somewhere under the upper frame..as long as the end is still on the cable, you should be able to still use it and get it working..all you have to do is find a small piece of metal to put a curve and a hole in so you can screw it to hold the outer part of the cable in place..or go onto ron ayers fiche. im sure you could get it there..

2.I do not know if it is normal..but as far as i know, the fuel pump does not run until the bike is running..that's the case with mine at least (96)

3. fan switch is normally based on temp. no manual switch. either the previous owner did not want to change out a bad sensor, or he felt the normal temp for the fan to turn on was too high..(in the 200's)

4. just because a short is not visible, does not mean you do not have one..if you are blowing fuses, that's an indication that you have one..do you have a service manual? because its time to chase the electrical gremlin! you will more than likely need the wiring diagram..it goes from the fuse, to the closed side of the starter switch, to the high/low, to the headlight..
