There is a 96 cbr600 f3 on Craigslist. The guy is asking 2500. He just put new tires on it. Had a tune up and says there are no problem only slight crack in bottom left fairing. He says it a special addition and only 1500 where made(doesn't really go int what kind or stuff like that) it has a blue/yellow paint theme going on if that narrows it down. This would be my first street bike and I'm wondering how much I should offer him for it. KBB has it at 1750 dealer price. I was thinking 1600. If you guys could give me your option It would be great.

sounds like a Smokin' Joes, and in my experience the racing editions add little to nothing over the actual value of any other model -- price it the same way you would any other bike in that condition.
it being your first bike, i'd recommend you have someone you trust who knows bikes look at it in person and give you some advice. you will often get a bunch of lowball advice from people on the internet, so if you can talk him down then great, but if the bike is in great shape, i dont think his asking price is unreasonable; you have to start high when you list anyway and expect to be haggled.

i just bought mine in dec, i live in the midwest, and it has 30k. new paint and some other do-dads..... paid $1300 for it.... though it needs a regulator or something...
let it warm up for like 5 minutes, ride it for like 20/30 mintues, then let it sit for like another 5 mintues before you shut it off. (battery should die by then if its going to, agreed??) thats what i should have done...

Stay away from it....55K and stunt...pay more and get the other bike. If he is firm on price, that's a good sign meaning bike is worth it...you cannot get best of both unless it's a friend or family. You get what you pay for! Spend little more, will give you more time riding the bike, Vs wrenching it.
How many mileage is on the first bike anyway? You've not mention this... But mileage does matter..by any mean.

Do the miles on the bike effect its value that much?? Becuase There is also a 1990 CBR600 on CL too for only 1500 OBO but it has 55k on it. also The sprocket Where change to a -1 in the front +4 in the back. seller says for speed but I'm worried He might have been stunting it.
