Tripmeter running backwards
Need help. I have upgraded front and rear sprockets and went to 520 chain. After doing so, the tripmeter is running backwards. This, in turn tries to force the odometer bacwards which will not happen, so the gearing in the speedo pops loose and all movement ceases. I have fixed the meter's gearing, but when I put everything back together it was still running backwards and has stopped again.
I have pulled the front sprocket off thinking that the speedo pick-up is somewhere close by, but I have not found it. Also, I am not completely sure about speedo because it is electronic. I come from the old school where the speedo was a friggin cable.
All of this would be great if I were dishonest and both meters kept running backwards, but keeping up with fuel is getting to be a pain.
If anyone has any advice on this, please help.

I cannot see a single reason this would happen just from changing the sprockets. The F3 speedo sensor is electronic located on the top of the tranny and the pickup is on the main shaft if I'm not mistaken.
The only thing I can think of, maybe somehow you (or the shop) have connected the speed sensor **** about (just above the cam chain tensioner), although from memory the clips (moulded white plastic) only fit the one way, but anything is possible. Also have you checked that the wiring connectors on the back of the instrument array are positioned and pushed in properly
