Trip Not working

Trip Not working
I just bought a Used 96 F3 and on the long ride home i noticed that the trip would for for about 9 tenths of a mile and then stop. I proceeded to reset the trip, and it only counted to 1 1/2 tenth.
I haven't had a chance to look at anything on the bike, but was wondering if anybody else had this problem? If so, how do I fix it?
I've been looking through the F3 manual I found on this forum, and have come across how to check if the electronics work but It doesn't really say how to fix it. Or at least I havn't come across it yet.
TIA

RE: Trip Not working
Is the f3 a mechanically operated odometer like the f2? If so, there are gears behind the odometer (take the gauges apart). The odometer and trip meter numbers rotated on a spool that is pinched between two metal "fingers" to keep them in contact with the drive gear. Perhaps your trip meters are making only slight contact with this drive gear?

RE: Trip Not working
The gear could be a possiblity. So I'll take a look at on wednesday. Thanks for the heads up. It does seem to work for a little bit and then quit, so it seems that that is right.
Also it is the trip that's not working. The tach, speedo, and odometer are all working fine.
I figure if i can't get it to work, I'll just work of the odometer.
