Trip meter rolling backwards.....
Alright so when I was out riding today I looked at my trip meter, and noticed that it had been rolling backwards
Not really sure how this happend, I had to reset the trip meter three times before it corrected itself and started rolling the correct direction. What would cause this problem because now I have no way to calculate when to get gas as I would use the trip meter and when it his 160-+ miles that would mean I would need gas around then. What are some things I should check to make sure this doesn't escalate into a bigger problem?
I suspect that it was a freak glitch in the odometer. I really don't think that you'll have to worry about it happening again. Maybe just checking to see that when you reset the trip meter, you ensure that the digits have all returned to zero's across the board. Sometimes when you press the reset button and don't press it all the way, it leaves the digits half way rotated and out of position. Just a cursory check when you reset is all that's needed.
As for mileage, I use the fuel petcock for when to get gas. Pointed down to ON until it starts to sputter between 140 and 170 miles (depending on driving). I then turn to RES and know that I have about 32 more miles I can ride before needing gas.

>.< Pffff hahahahahaha!! I love this forum. This is up there with the guy who bought an F2 and found the PO used a t-shirt as an air filter.
The best part is I had a mountain bike with speedo\tripmeter when I was a kid and I swear it did the exact same thing on regular occasion. I'd fix it by doing exactly what 'dirt said, though I couldn't tell you why it happens. It's not like there's some particularly complicated gearing system in there.

Was the bike owned by an old creepy guy in a back brace? Did his brother own it and after he died the bike came back? Does it heal itself when damaged? Most importantly - does it play music when it goes after guys who picked on you in high school?
If you don't understand, don't worry. We'll see who gets the reference.

For some reason, this made me think of Murdercycle:

It's an awesomely horrible movie

I think I know what the problem is.... your driving in reverse. Remember in Feris Bueller's Day Off they tried taking miles off the car by running it in reverse. That has to be your problem

My first exposure to awsomely horrible was killer clowns from outer space one 5am morning on hbo - wow. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095444/
