Default Trip meter not rolling... Dare I attempt a repair?

Hey guys,

I rode my F2 yesterday for the first time. All things considered it was very solid for a $450 bike.

But, the trip meter doesn't work. I know I know, it could be far worse. But, do you think I should give it a shot to try and repair it? I have no idea what kinds of gears are in there or how it's supposed to work, but having a look could make it obvious.

Has anyone else been inside the speedo? Can you recommend whether or not I risk damage to the other functioning things?

is it just the trip meter thats not working or does the speed gauge not work either. try moving the **** on the side and see if it moves or not. im not sure how the gearing is set up inside but that could tell u if the gears r broke.

Hey man. I just had my dash apart to clean the innards, and the speedo, odo. and trip meter are integrated into one plasticy shell of disturbing complexity. I actually tried to take it apart all the way for kicks, but as I recall the abovementioned components come out as one unit. Pics required if you try!

Now I don't know.... but considering they don't want people to easily tamper with the odometer, and the trip meter is a part of that unit, I'm thinking probably not very easy to do..

Fair enough guys, that's why I asked. I can survive with the old fashioned method of remembering digits...

You can get a gauge cluster for the bike I bet, and not only get a working tripmeter, but perhaps increase your bikes value by decresaing it's milage!

Default Uhm..

The previous poster should note that when you titled your bike it should have had current mileage on it. If you replace the speedometer housing with a lower mileage one you can go to jail for odometer fraud if you dont disclose it correct both to the state and the person you sell it to.
